Practical information for our riding tours
1. Number of participants
There are 10-12 participants on our trips. We can arrange larger
groups by arrangement.
2. Age limits
From 3 : Small trips with horse led by another person. We expect
parents to help until children are confident enough to ride
Age limit 6: instruction on the riding ground. Adults/parents to
help small children as they ride
Age limit 8: 1 hour trips.
Age limit 12 (10 for experience riders): Riding week, Riding
weekend, whole day trips, 2 & 3 hour trips.
3. Experience
For hand led tours & instruction we require no
experience. For those who have ridden a little, we advise an hour
instruction on our 20mx40m riding ground before taking trips in the
mountains. On our 1,2 & 3 hour trips we have groups for experienced
and inexperienced riders. To join with the experienced riders you
have to be comfortable in a trot & gallop. For the longer trips and
weekend/week programs you must be comfortable in a trot and have
riding experience. Please give our staff your correct experience
details when booking so we can arrange an enjoyable tour for
everyone!
4. Equipment
You are provided with all the necessary equipment
for your riding trip. On longer trips we provide carrying room for
picnics, waterproofs, etc. Use of a helmet is obligatory for all
riders at Venabu. You can be provided with one of ours or bring your
own. Footwear should be over ankle height, with a heel and without
too deep tread. Avoid trousers with thick seams (jeans). Take warm
clothes and waterproofs – the weather changes quickly in the
mountains.
5. Joining the trip
Meet up at least 15 minutes before the tour is
scheduled to start. In the night, the horses are grazing in the
fields, 10 minutes away from the hotel. The day’s first trip starts
there. The trips finish at the stables and the afternoon trips start
at the stables and finish at the pastures. Ask at reception if
you’re unsure of where and when to meet up!
6. Payment
Horse riding which is not part of on of our hotel
packages must be paid for the hotel before the start of the trip. A
receipt will be issued for you to show your guide or instructor.
7. Food & breaks
We have a food break on all of our day trips. Our
Tuesday trip takes a break at the summer farm where we are served a
traditional lunch. On whole day trips with lunch over the fire, we
take sausages & coffee which we cook over an open fire in the
mountains. If you’re a vegetarian or have special dietary
requirements, let us know when you book your trip!
On a 3 hour trip we can have a short break if necessary. On shorter
trips we have no break.
8. Insurances
Venabu-stables has all the necessary insurance required by law.
We recommend all our guests to have their own travel insurance.
9. Groups
If you are a group of 8 people or more, we ask for a 20% deposit.
This is non refundable in the event of a cancellation, and should be
paid one month in advance.
10. Booking
