General Climate informationWe lie in a good position, protected by the high mountains of Rondane, but weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. In the summer we can have long periods of warm dry weather, as well as rainy periods. The birch leaves come out around 1st June and they disappear around mid-late September, varying slightly from year to year. We se the first snowfalls in October but it normally doesn’t settle until November. We can often ski as early as 10th November and this lasts until the end of April. There can often be good skiing higher in the mountain in early May. In the height of winter it is usually less cold in the mountains than in the valleys below and we see more of the sun. When a storm is forecast in the mountains it often fails to materialise in our area, but beware the winds from the north which can be strong, although short lived, and not always forecast No matter what time of year you come to the mountains it is worth having an extra layer of clothes. It’s a fresher cooler air stream at this altitude and with good clothing it’s possible to have great experiences in the mountains even without the sunshine.
